We arrived safely at our summer training camp a few days ago. Before we left, our friend Aaron Lisech came by and brought his nephew, Daniel Haase. Daniel spent some time hunting at Davis Quail Hunts and was so taken with the dogs that he asked if he could come up to Canada and learn about training bird dogs. There’s no better opportunity for doing that than on the prairies and we are glad to have Daniel here with us. ‘Course he’ll be getting up at the crack of dawn and tired at the end of the day…that’s the life of a dog trainer!

We hosted the first of which will be an annual barbecue for our patrons on Saturday, May 8th. A nice crowd attended and a great time was certainly had by all! The allure of hunting for arrowheads, shark teeth, and fossils certainly kept the youngsters busy. The crowd enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and clay shooting but the fellowship was by far the best thing….well, besides the food! Team members, Marcia Davis, Sherman Hooks, and Elsie Davis had as much fun themselves as they had entertaining our guests. DQH is very appreciative of our patrons and all the new friendships we made in our first year of business. We are looking forward to seeing you all again this coming season for more great quail, pheasant and turkey hunting!

As summer approaches, we will once again be getting ready for our annual trip to our camp in Manitoba to train our string of field trial dogs, Davis Quail Hunt dogs and our clients’ personal hunting dogs. We take a limited number of bird dogs to Canada each summer. If you are interested in this great opportunity for your dog, please contact us soon as we generally are booked very quickly.
